Itinerary

Day 1

BudapestEger
In the morning you drive to Eger, which is called the baroque pearl of north-eastern Hungary (the land of the famous Bull’s Blood wine). In the afternoon after the check-in at your hotel, depart for a sightseeing tour of this beautiful town. Visit the Basilica, the famous fortress, the most northern Minaret of Europe and stroll in the centre of Eger. Dinner at a restaurant located in the famous wine growing region, called “Szépasszony Völgy” – Valley of the Beautiful Lady. Overnight in Hotel Flóra or similar.

Day 2

Eger – Debrecen – Hajdúszoboszló
After buffet-breakfast at the hotel you will visit the LYCEUM, one of the most impressive buildings of Eger. On the first floor of the building you’ll find the famous diocesan library. Several medieval codices, manuscripts and the only Mozart-letter, which can be found in Hungary, are in the collection. In the 53 m high tower of the building the Observatory Museum and the “Specula” Periscope are also unique. After the visit, continue your journey to Debrecen. You will arrive at Debrecen early in the afternoon, where you will visit the Great Reformed Church of the city. This church is the symbol of Debrecen. The predecessor of the church was built in the 12th century and was burnt down. From Debrecen it is only a 15 minute ride to Hajdúszoboszló, which is one of the most popular spa settlements in Hungary. Rest of the day is free for your leisure. Dinner at a local restaurant in Hajdúszoboszló. Overnight in Hotel Béke or similar.

Day 3

Hajdúszoboszló – Ópusztaszer – Szeged
After buffet breakfast in the hotel, you have time to visit the Aqua Park or spa of Hajdúszoboszló. This Aqua Park was the first of its kind in Hungary built in 2000. It offers countless sliding, bathing facilities with adventure pools, swimming pools, thermal pools. Early afternoon continue the trip to Szeged. You will stop to visit the National Historical Memorial Park in Ópusztaszer. It has been operated under the name of National Historical Memorial Park since 1982. The museum and excursion area, as one of the most popular establishments of this kind in Hungary, welcome you with approximately fifty different sights, including the Panorama picture of Feszty Arpad entitled the ”Hungarian Conquest”. Dinner at a typical Hungarian fish “Csarda”. Overnight in Hotel Forrás or similar.

Day 4

Szeged - Baja - Mohács - Pécs
After breakfast in Szeged, we take a small sightseeing in the city of light, statues, and fountains. You will visit the fourth largest church in Hungary, the Serbian Orthodox Church, which can house 5000 worshippers at the same time. The Dome Square, where the church stands, is about 12.000 m2 and is so large than the St. Mark Square in Venice. You will also visit the Synagogue and stroll in the Mediterranean atmosphere streets of Szeged. After the pleasant morning, continue your tour to Pécs, the Mediterranean city which is the part of the world heritage. On the way you visit the historical memorial place in Mohács and then arrive at Pécs. Rest of the afternoon is free for leisure. Dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Hotel Kikelet or similar.

Day 5

Pécs- Keszthely – Héviz
After buffet breakfast in the hotel, discover this beautiful 2000 year old Mediterranean atmosphere town. You will visit the crypts from the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, which have been registered on the UNESCO World Heritage list; the Basilica, the Bishop’s Palace, the Djami of Gázi Kászhim and the Minaret and also visit the world famous Zsolnay Porcelain Museum. Early in the afternoon drive to the region of Lake Balaton. You will reach the lake at the Southern edge at Balatonszentgyörgy. You drive up to Keszthely, where you visit the sights of the city, such as Festetics Castle, Georgikon and the Library. Early in the evening you will reach Héviz, which is world famous for its thermal water and natural thermal lake. Have dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Hotel Helios or similar.

Day 6

Héviz - Veszprém - Herend - Pannonhalma – Budapest
After breakfast continue your journey to Veszprém, which is among the oldest cities in the country. You will have a short sightseeing walk in the Castle District and have a great panorama view from the garden of the Castle Garden through the city. After the walking tour depart for Herend, the world’s largest porcelain manufactory, founded in 1826. You will have a guided tour through the manucfactory where you can get to know the making process of the porcelain. After the visit you will be welcomed for a cake and coffee in the famous ”Porcelanium”. After this break, continue your way to Pannonhalma. You will stop at the Pannonhalma Benedictin Abbey, which is listed amoung the UNESCO World Heritage Sights. Dinner at the hotel today. Overnight in Hotel Tulip Inn or similar.
